Caring for Your Mela

Every Mela piece is handwoven. A little care keeps the cotton soft and the tilet vibrant for years.

Wash

Hand wash gently in cold water, inside out.
Use a mild detergent. Skip bleach and fabric softener.
Swish, don’t scrub.

Dry

Lay flat to air dry, away from direct sun. Reshape while damp.
Do not tumble dry.

Press

Steam on low with the piece inside out.
Press around the tilet, never directly on it.

Store

Fold instead of hanging to keep the weave in shape.
Keep in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.

Small variations in the weave and tilet are the mark of handwork. No two pieces are exactly alike.
