We found a way to wear it
Whether it was styling Ethiopian silk scarves with jeans, wearing Ethiopian crosses or Lion of Judah jewelry, we found small ways to carry pieces of home with us every day.
But the pieces we loved most — our Habesha kemis, the handwoven cotton, the tibeb — were often reserved for just a handful of holidays and special occasions each year.
We wanted the feeling of those pieces without having to wait for an occasion.
That desire became Mela: Ethiopian handwoven tradition, reimagined in silhouettes made for the everyday.
